2012 is cooking right along. So far the Texas heat hasn’t been as bad as last year’s crazy scorched earth summer, so it feels pretty good playing outdoor shows and such. I am planning to hit the road to New England for some musical projects in August. Until then, I have been writing a lot of new material, for my bands Manteca Beat and My Exotic Other. I plan to record throughout the year and make the songs available as digital downloads.
I have had some great collaboration projects as well, working with bands like Sangeet Millennium, the Copa Kings, Blackbird 3, Judith Miller, and Mr. Swamp Pop himself Larry Lange . An extra tip of the hat to Graham Reynolds for including me on the soundtrack to the new feature film Bernie. Pretty cool!
My theme nights with Manteca Beat at Tom’s Tabooley have been going well, drawing a nice mix of people. It’s part cocktail party, part concert, part travelogue with slideshow. So far we have done Cuba Night, Mediterranean Night, and in July we will have French Night.
So far summer is off to a good start.
